1. Who we are

TradeScope IQ ("TradeScope", "we", "us") is operated by TradeScope IQ (Pty) Ltd, registration number 2025/625894/07, whose address is 545 Douglas Scholtz Street, Constantia Park, Pretoria, Gauteng, 0181, South Africa. TradeScope IQ provides TPQ (Touch Point Quality) Analytics: organisations create assignments, and independent TPQ analysts complete them in our iOS and Android app by answering objective yes/no and rating questions and submitting video, audio, image and document evidence, which clients review on our web dashboard. We operate in South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Eswatini and Lesotho. This policy explains how we process personal information under the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA). Our Information Officer can be contacted at info@tradescopeiq.com.

2. Information we collect

Account information you give us: name, surname, email address, phone number and profile picture. We use your email or phone number to log you in.

Profile information (where requested): ID number and race. We collect these only to select and verify analysts who match the demographic an assignment requires, and to confirm identity, where required for the assignment or by the client organisation, and only for that purpose. Whether providing them is optional or required is indicated at the time of collection. They are special personal information under POPIA, and we process them only with your consent or where the law allows.

Assignment information: the assignments you accept, your answers to yes/no and 1–10 rating questions, notes you write, timestamps, and your progress.

Evidence you upload: photos, videos, audio recordings and documents that you capture or select while completing an assignment. These may show people, premises or products. Only record or photograph what an assignment requires, and respect the privacy of others.

Location: with your permission, your device location, so we can show assignments near you and record where an assignment was completed. You can turn this off in your device settings, but some assignments may then not be available to you.

Device and technical information: device model, operating system, app version, a push notification token, and crash and error reports.

3. How we use your information

  • To create and manage your account and log you in.
  • To assign you work and let you complete and submit it.
  • To give the client organisation that issued the assignment your submissions for review and reporting.
  • To send push notifications about assignments.
  • To verify evidence and prevent fraud or misuse.
  • To keep the app secure, fix errors and improve performance.
  • To comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.

4. Who we share it with

  • Client organisations and administrators. Your name, answers, evidence and the location of a submission are visible to the administrators of the organisation that issued the assignment, and to TradeScope administrators.
  • Service providers (operators) who process data for us under written agreements:
    • Google Firebase (authentication, database, file storage, push messaging, crash reporting, configuration). Data may be processed on Google servers outside South Africa.
    • Google Maps (maps and place lookup).
    • Algolia (search).
    • Discord (internal error alerts used by our developers; these contain technical details and not your evidence).
  • Authorities, when required by law or to protect rights and safety.
  • A buyer or successor, if our business is sold or restructured, subject to this policy.

5. Transfers outside South Africa

Our providers store and process data in other countries. Because we also operate in Namibia, Botswana, Eswatini and Lesotho, information may cross these borders. We transfer personal information only to providers that offer protection substantially similar to POPIA, as section 72 of POPIA requires.

6. How long we keep it

Retention periods for assignment information, evidence and related records are client specific and are agreed with each client organisation in its service agreement. In all cases, we keep personal information only for as long as it is needed for the purposes described in this policy, or as required or permitted by law, after which it is deleted, destroyed or de-identified. We may keep information longer where the law requires, for example to resolve a dispute or meet tax and record-keeping duties.

Personal information received through website enquiries is kept only for as long as needed to respond to and follow up on the enquiry.

7. Security

Data is encrypted in transit. Access to the database and file storage is controlled by role-based security rules, so analysts reach only their own data and administrators reach only what their role allows. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects you, we will notify you and the Information Regulator as POPIA requires.

8. Your rights

You may ask us to confirm what personal information we hold about you, access it, correct it, delete it, or object to its processing. You may withdraw consent at any time, which does not affect processing already done. To exercise a right, email info@tradescopeiq.com. You can delete your account by emailing info@tradescopeiq.com. We will respond within a reasonable time.

If you are unhappy with our response you may complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa): enquiries@inforegulator.org.za, www.inforegulator.org.za.

9. Children

TradeScope IQ is for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

10. Cookies and the website

Our web dashboard uses only the browser storage needed to keep you signed in and remember preferences. This marketing website does not use analytics or tracking cookies; see section 13.

11. Changes

We may update this policy. We will post the new version here with a new date, and tell you in the app if the change is significant.

13. Website visitors and enquiries

This website's enquiry form does not store your details itself; it opens your own email app with a message addressed to info@tradescopeiq.com, which you then choose to send. When you email us, we use your name, company, email address and message only to respond to your enquiry, arrange a demo or deal with a franchise enquiry. This website does not use analytics, advertising or other tracking cookies. To display its font, pages load the Poppins typeface from Google Fonts, so your browser shares technical information such as your IP address with Google. The services that host this website may also process basic technical information, such as your IP address, to deliver it securely.
